Athletics Bobbie Dewey Scholarship Fund

The Bobbie Dewey Scholarship

We honor one of the most revered people at North Fort Myers High School, Mrs. Red Knight, Bobbie Dewey. Mrs. Dewey was a PE teacher here at the school until 1988 when she became the Athletics and Activities Director. But she was more than that. She was the number one fan, supporter, and friend to everything and everyone at North. She maintained that position until 1998 when breast cancer took her life too soon.

Ms. Dewey was instrumental in helping bring female athletics from the days of GAA (Girl’s Athletic Association) to varsity status. She fought for equal facilities and opportunities for everyone. She was the leading force to having the North High Softball Field built on campus. Because of her efforts, and everything she has meant to North High, the softball field was named in her honor. As North’s number one cheerleader, Mrs. Dewey started the chant that is now the North High trademark: “RED, RED, RED”. She was the true heart and soul of the Red Knight Spirit!
